We are organizing a series of summer learning programs in various parts of rural Japan this summer! Each program has different themes, learning outcomes, participation requirements and costs. Feel free to look through the program descriptions, pick your desired destination and enjoy an unforgettable and enriching summer with us!

Ishinomaki (Miyagi Prefecture)

Date: September 3 ~ 7, 2019

Theme: Social Innovation in Post- Disaster Ishinomaki

Description: Learn about the social innovation created in the coastal city of Ishinomaki after being devastated by the world’s costliest disaster. During this program, you will learn first-hand from companies involved in creating innovative and positive changes in various industries and fields, ranging from fishing industries, craftsmanship to IT.

Urahoro (Hokkaido)

Date: September 20 ~ 24, 2019

Theme: Innovative Utilization of Local Resources for Revitalization

Description: Learn about the effective utilization of local resources in Urahoro, a town in Eastern Hokkaido. During this program, you will learn from the actual players engaged in engendering innovation with design thinking to reutilize abandoned schools, and to revolutionize the local education system.

Participation Costs: ¥20,000 (for students), ¥40,000 (for non- students)

Note: Transportation to Hokkaido and meals are NOT covered.

Seiyo (Ehime Prefecture)

Date: August 26 ~ 30, 2019

Theme: Regional Revitalization

Description: During this program you will explore the charms and learn about the challenges faced by Seiyo city. Engage in discussions with local communities on how they can reevaluate and reutilize their resources to revitalize the region.

Participation Costs: ¥15,000 (for students), ¥30,000 (for non- students)

Note: Transportation to Seiyo, and meals are NOT covered.

Tono (Iwate Prefecture)

Date: September 11 ~ 14, 2019

Theme: Organic Farming

Description: During this program you will explore the charms and learn about the challenges faced by Tono city. Experience an authentic farm stay in the rural fields of Tono, help out your host farmer and learn about organic farming.

Participation Costs: ¥15,000 (Only for Students)

Note: Transportation to Tono, and lunches are NOT covered.
